Kings To Contribute to Haiti Relief Efforts Throughout the Month of February

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- During the month of February the Los Angeles Kings players will donate $200 a piece to the American Red Cross relief operation in Haiti for each winning game, (up to $4,800 per win) and the Kings Care Foundation will match each total contribution.

With a three game winning streak in February, the Kings have already raised $19,200. Tonight the team will travel to Anaheim; host Edmonton on February 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Colorado on February 13 at 7:30 p.m.

"It was a unanimous decision for the team to contribute to the relief efforts in Haiti and to contribute to the great work the American Red Cross is doing on the ground," said Kings Captain Dustin Brown. "We are hoping that our fans join us and donate to this important cause by logging onto www.redcross.org."

The Kings and the Kings Care Foundation also this month will:

  • host American Red Cross volunteers to accept donations at all STAPLES Center entrances for each Kings home game;
  • set-up American Red Cross informational tables on the concourse for all games;
  • donate a portion of Kings Care Silent Auction proceeds to benefit the Haiti relief effort;
  • ask all Kings Community Corner participants to donate $1 for every ticket they use.

In addition, the Kings' annual Rink Tour, which is set to take place on Saturday, February 27, at six local ice rinks, will encourage all participants and fans in attendance for a suggested $10 donation to aid Haiti Relief Efforts.

ABOUT THE AMERICAN RED CROSS

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization -- not a government agency -- and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
